Seminar Objectives:
· Infection Control
· Dermal Punctures using Microhematocrit Tubes
· Identify and prepare an acceptable site
· Determine the needed supplies and equipment
· Follow the Order of Draw
· Ensure patient safety by recognizing and responding to potential complications
· Palpating Using a Tourniquet
· Properly perform venipunctures and dermal punctures
· Identify and dispose of sharps and biohazards according to the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard
· Properly balance the centrifuge
· Prepare peripheral blood smears
· Live Sticks: Dermal Punctures & Routine Venipuncture

Upon Satisfactory Completion of all three seminars the student will be registered to take their National Exam.
